Angeles City opened its doors to a delegation from the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental for a full-day heritage and culinary immersion on September 5, 2025. The event was organized by the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO), headed by Ms. Louie Lazatin, in partnership with Kuliat Foundation Inc., to promote inter-provincial tourism and cultural exchange.
The visiting group was led by Provincial Board Member Arthur Christopher Marañon, who chairs the Committee on Tourism of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, along with Negros Occidental Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena and other local officials. They were warmly received with traditional Angeleño hospitality and an itinerary packed with culture, history, and food.
The tour began in Angeles City’s Heritage District, where the delegation explored the National Museum of Social History, located in the historic Pamintuan Mansion. The visit offered guests a deep look into the lifestyle and rich history of the Kapampangan people. A solemn stop at the Holy Rosary Parish Church followed, reflecting the spiritual heritage of the city.
The next highlight was a guided walk through Museo ning Angeles, where guests learned about local traditions, Kapampangan arts, and the indigenous script, Kulitan. Exhibits and artifacts showcased the city’s evolving identity and deep cultural roots that continue to thrive in modern times.
Capping off the cultural journey was a hands-on culinary experience at the Culinarium, a newly completed project by the Hann Foundation. Here, the delegates got a firsthand look at how Angeles City’s world-famous sisig is prepared. With aprons on and sizzling plates ready, the guests participated in a live demonstration and cooked their own versions of the iconic dish.
“This visit is more than a tour—it’s a celebration of shared culture and mutual appreciation,” said Ms. Lazatin. “Our guests experienced what makes Angeles City a standout destination, not just for its heritage sites, but for its culinary legacy as well.”
The Angeles City Tourism Office expressed optimism that this cultural and tourism exchange will spark more cross-provincial partnerships, promote local heritage tourism, and encourage collaborative efforts that highlight the Philippines’ regional diversity through food, history, and culture.
