ANGELES CITY — Local farmers from several barangays in Angeles City received vital agricultural support on May 15, 2025, through the joint efforts of the City Agriculture Office and the Department of Agriculture. The initiative is part of the continuing agricultural assistance program under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr.
City Agriculture Officer Rea R. Dizon led the distribution on behalf of Mayor Lazatin, handing out 37 bags of rice seeds to farmers from Barangays Sapalibutad, Cutud, Mining, and Pulungbulu. The seeds aim to boost local rice production and enhance food security at the barangay level.
Aside from rice seeds, poultry farmers from Barangays Sapalibutad and Cutud also received disinfectant supplies. This move is intended to promote biosecurity and safeguard poultry livestock from diseases, ensuring a more stable local supply of eggs and poultry meat.
As part of the city’s effort to modernize agricultural practices, the City Agriculture Office likewise distributed 14 units of knapsack sprayers. The recipients came from Barangays Sapalibutad, Pulungbulu, and Mining. These sprayers are expected to help farmers in pest control and proper application of fertilizers and other farm inputs.
The distribution reflects the city’s proactive stance in supporting its agricultural community, recognizing the crucial role of farmers in food production and local economy. Officer Dizon emphasized the city’s continuous commitment to uplifting the lives of farmers through programs focused on productivity, sustainability, and resilience.
Mayor Lazatin, through various agricultural initiatives, has consistently pushed for improved access to tools, training, and resources for local farmers. The recent distribution is just one of several support programs designed to strengthen Angeles City’s farming sector.
Present during the activity were Hazel Ann Santos, Donalene P. Merino, and Raymund R. Cajan, who helped facilitate the orderly distribution. The city government reaffirmed its pledge to continue working hand-in-hand with farmers in ensuring the long-term growth and development of agriculture in Angeles City.
