ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. welcomed three barangay captains to the Mayor’s Office Conference Room on May 27, 2025, in a meeting aimed at strengthening community ties and furthering ongoing local development initiatives. The gathering reflected a shared commitment among city and barangay leaders to enhance public service and address the needs of their constituents more effectively.
Barangay Ninoy Aquino Captain John Terry Halili, Barangay Malabanias Captain Luz Nava, and Barangay Pandan Captain Cors Alejandrino were warmly received by Mayor Lazatin. The discussion centered around localized governance improvements, collaborative projects, and updates on the implementation of city-led programs in their respective barangays.
Joining the mayor and barangay captains were key members of Lazatin’s administration. Among them was IC Calaguas, Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and the Department of Transportation’s Assistant Secretary for Right of Way Acquisition for Rail and Road. Her presence highlighted the integration of national infrastructure initiatives into local planning.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles also took part in the meeting. Their inclusion underscores the administration’s efforts to make development efforts inclusive, with a focus on gender sensitivity and grassroots participation in decision-making.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized his administration’s continued support for barangay-level programs and affirmed his open-door policy for local leaders. “Our barangay captains are the frontline leaders of our city. They know best the needs of their communities, and it is our duty to support them,” he said during the meeting.
Captain Halili, Nava, and Alejandrino each expressed appreciation for the city’s ongoing support, sharing brief updates on their barangays’ current projects and concerns. They also echoed the value of frequent collaboration between city and barangay governments in achieving sustainable development goals.
The visit concluded with a photo opportunity, capturing a moment of unity and shared purpose among the local leaders. The mayor’s team reiterated their willingness to assist and coordinate with all barangay officials to ensure effective governance throughout Angeles City.
