The Angeles City Veterinary Office, under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Dr. Mario Samson Jr., recently conducted a benchmarking visit to the Quezon City Veterinary Office as part of a lakbay-aral initiative to improve local veterinary services.
During the visit, Dr. Samson and his team engaged with Quezon City’s veterinary officials, including Dr. Rey del Napoles and Dr. Henry Barbero, who shared their award-winning strategies and programs that have set a high standard in public veterinary care.
The Quezon City team showcased their approaches to animal welfare, community involvement, and public education campaigns. Their efforts have gained recognition for being both progressive and community-centered, offering valuable insights for visiting LGUs like Angeles City.
One of the highlights of the benchmarking activity was the discussion on Quezon City’s effective implementation of pet registration, mobile veterinary services, and responsible pet ownership drives, which have significantly improved public participation and awareness.
Dr. Samson noted the importance of the visit in identifying adaptable practices that can be applied in Angeles City, especially in enhancing its ongoing efforts in animal control, shelter management, and veterinary outreach programs.
The activity emphasized the value of collaboration and knowledge-sharing between local government units (LGUs), particularly in strengthening veterinary healthcare systems and ensuring animal welfare policies are implemented effectively across communities.
Both veterinary offices expressed optimism about continuing their partnership and supporting each other’s initiatives. The Angeles City Veterinary Office looks forward to applying the insights gained to better serve local pet owners and promote compassionate and responsible pet care.
