The Angeles City Government, through the City Veterinary Office, is calling on kind-hearted Angeleños to consider adopting animals from the city’s Animal Shelter instead of buying pets from commercial breeders. This initiative forms part of the city’s advocacy to promote responsible pet ownership and reduce the number of stray animals on the streets.
Many rescued animals—mostly dogs and cats—currently reside at the city-run shelter, waiting for loving families to take them home. These animals have been rescued from unsafe environments, treated medically, and rehabilitated under the care of the City Veterinary Office.
“Thank you so much, co-Angeleños, for your continued compassion,” said representatives from the City Veterinary Office. “Now, we are calling on you again—not just to care, but to act. Let’s give these rescued animals the second chance they deserve.”
All animals available for adoption have been vaccinated, dewormed, and spayed or neutered. The adoption process is simple and ensures that new pet owners are informed about proper animal care. City officials emphasize that adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment and must be made with genuine responsibility.
Aside from reducing the number of stray animals, the adoption campaign aims to raise awareness about animal welfare and highlight the city’s efforts in managing animal population through humane and sustainable means. The shelter also conducts outreach programs in schools and barangays to educate the public about pet care and compassion.
In recent months, the city has seen an increase in adoptions, thanks to stronger public awareness and support from local volunteers. The local government hopes to maintain this momentum through continued social media campaigns and regular adoption drives.
With every adopted pet, the city moves closer to its goal of becoming a safer, kinder, and more animal-friendly community. “Let’s not just be pet lovers—let’s be heroes to these animals,” the City Veterinary Office added. “Visit our shelter and find your fur-ever friend.
