Councilor Marino “Niknok” Banola and City Veterinarian Dr. Mario Samson Jr. recently held a coordination meeting with Cutcut Barangay officials, led by Barangay Captain Juanito Dayrit, to discuss the establishment of a proposed barangay dog pound facility. The initiative aims to enhance the city’s efforts in managing stray animals and promoting animal welfare.
During the meeting, local leaders emphasized the growing need for a designated facility to properly handle stray dogs within the barangay. They noted that such a facility would help minimize animal-related incidents and improve safety in residential areas.
The proposed dog pound is envisioned to provide a safe and controlled environment for stray animals rescued from the community. This ensures that animals are handled humanely and receive appropriate care while awaiting adoption, claiming, or transfer.
City Veterinarian Dr. Samson highlighted the importance of strengthening responsible pet ownership among residents. He shared that the facility could serve as a support center for educational campaigns, helping pet owners understand their responsibilities and the value of proper animal care.
Councilor Banola also stressed that the project will reinforce the city’s long-term animal welfare programs. He added that effective management of stray animals is essential in reducing health risks and maintaining peace and order in the community.
Barangay Captain Dayrit and his officials expressed their full support for the initiative, acknowledging its potential to address long-standing concerns regarding roaming animals. They affirmed their commitment to collaborating closely with the city government for the project’s implementation.
Through this coordinated effort, Angeles City aims to strengthen its animal welfare services while ensuring a safer and more orderly environment for all Angeleños. The proposed Cutcut dog pound facility marks a significant step toward improving animal management across the city
