ANGELES CITY — Officials from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region III paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II to discuss employment programs and reinforce their collaboration in uplifting workers’ welfare and expanding job opportunities within the city.
Leading the delegation was DOLE Region III Director Geraldine Panlilio, accompanied by Pampanga Provincial Head May Lynn Gozun and Focal Person Catherine Mago. The meeting took place at the Mayor’s Office Conference Room in Angeles City Hall.
The visit focused on aligning the city’s local employment initiatives with DOLE’s regional strategies, as both parties aim to create a more inclusive and accessible labor market for Angeleños. Topics discussed included job fairs, livelihood programs, and support for marginalized workers.
Mayor Lazatin expressed gratitude for DOLE’s continued support and emphasized the importance of a strong partnership in ensuring that employment programs remain responsive to the needs of the local workforce. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering workers through skills training and livelihood assistance.
Director Panlilio praised the city government’s proactive approach to employment and labor welfare, citing previous successful collaborations with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Angeles City. She emphasized the importance of local government involvement in implementing labor programs effectively.
Also present during the meeting were PESO Angeles City Manager Ferdinand Calma and Maridor Basilio, who shared updates on the city’s employment situation, including current job placements and upcoming job matching activities. They also expressed readiness to work closely with DOLE in future programs.
The courtesy visit marked a renewed collaboration between DOLE Region III and the Angeles City government, aiming to strengthen employment services, promote decent work, and uplift the lives of workers and job seekers across the city.
