Officials from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Pampanga, led by Provincial Science and Technology Director Mary Michelle M. Quiambo, recently paid a courtesy visit to Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II. The meeting aimed to reinforce cooperation between the city government and DOST to promote science, technology, and innovation in the community.
Joining Director Quiambo were Senior Science Research Specialist John Kenneth Soratio and Starbooks Deployment Officer Jose T. Nulud. Their presence highlighted the various programs and technologies that DOST is implementing to support local development and educational advancements.
During the visit, Mayor Lazatin expressed his appreciation for DOST’s continuous support and partnership. He emphasized the city’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological progress as key drivers of economic growth and improved public services for Angeleños.
Director Quiambo outlined ongoing projects that align with Angeles City’s development goals, including science and technology capacity-building, research initiatives, and the deployment of Starbooks—DOST’s offline digital library aimed at enhancing access to knowledge in remote areas.
The group discussed opportunities for expanding collaboration, such as integrating more science-based solutions in city programs, boosting STEM education, and empowering youth and local entrepreneurs through technology-driven projects.
Mayor Lazatin also invited DOST Pampanga to actively participate in upcoming city-led innovation activities and capacity-building workshops, reinforcing the importance of a strong partnership between government agencies and local stakeholders.
Both parties agreed to maintain open communication and work closely together to ensure that Angeles City benefits from the latest science and technology developments, making it a more resilient and progressive community.
