ANGELES CITY — Following the May 12 elections, Angeles City has officially proclaimed its new local leaders, with Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II winning as city mayor and Amos Rivera securing the post of vice mayor. The proclamation was made by the local Board of Canvassers after a successful and peaceful electoral process.
Jon Lazatin, the incumbent Pampanga 1st District Representative and younger brother of outgoing Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., garnered an impressive 98,164 votes. His wide margin of victory reflects strong public support and confidence in his leadership capabilities.
In his victory speech, Mayor-elect Lazatin thanked his supporters and vowed to continue the legacy of good governance initiated by his brother. “Angeles City has made its choice. I will serve with transparency, dedication, and the same heart that my brother showed during his term,” he said.
Meanwhile, Amos Rivera, a former city councilor known for his grassroots-oriented public service, was proclaimed the new vice mayor. Rivera expressed his gratitude to Angeleños for their trust and promised to bring inclusive leadership to the city council.
The Lazatin-Rivera tandem was seen as a strong ticket during the campaign season, promising continuity in programs that focus on healthcare, education, job creation, and infrastructure. Their victory is seen as a vote of confidence in the city’s current direction.
Both incoming officials emphasized unity and collaboration, calling on their fellow public servants, as well as the citizens, to work together in moving the city forward. “This victory belongs to every Angeleño,” Rivera said. “Let’s build a better Angeles together.”
With the new administration set to take office, residents of Angeles City look forward to sustained progress and inclusive growth under the leadership of Mayor Jon Lazatin and Vice Mayor Amos Rivera.
