In an effort to promote local products and strengthen small businesses, the Angeles City Government hosted the KADIWA ng Pangulo program in front of the Angeles City Hall on August 28. The event was made possible through the collaboration of the City Agriculture Office and the Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO).
With the theme “Pasalwan na po!” — a local phrase inviting people to stop by and buy — the KADIWA pop-up market featured fresh produce, processed goods, and other products directly from local farmers and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). It offered affordable, quality items to the public while providing livelihood support to participating sellers.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II has been consistent in supporting community-based economic programs that bring producers closer to consumers. He believes that these initiatives not only promote local enterprise but also help reduce the cost of living by cutting out the middleman in the supply chain.
The event drew positive attention from city hall employees, residents, and passersby who appreciated the accessibility and variety of goods offered. Among the items available were vegetables, rice, fruits, native snacks, and locally made crafts and household products.
Representatives from the City Agriculture Office emphasized the importance of the KADIWA program in providing a stable market for local farmers and producers. They noted that direct selling opportunities like this significantly boost their income, especially amid rising operational costs in agriculture.
Meanwhile, ACEDIPO highlighted that such programs are part of the city’s wider economic recovery plan post-pandemic. By empowering MSMEs and farmers through regular market access, Angeles City continues to build a resilient local economy.
The city government plans to make the KADIWA program a regular activity, rotating in various barangays to reach more residents and support more local entrepreneurs. Through initiatives like this, Angeles City remains committed to inclusive economic growth and community empowerment.
