ANGELES CITY — Traditional Filipino games took center stage as part of the Fiestang Kuliat’s Mamyalu Tamu 2025, with students from the City College of Angeles (CCA) enthusiastically participating in “Palaro ng Lahi”—a vibrant celebration of culture, unity, and youthful energy.
The event was made possible through the support of the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, in coordination with the City Sports Office, City Youth Development Office, and Sangguniang Kabataan. It showcased the administration’s commitment to promoting Filipino heritage while also encouraging youth development.
Students from different CCA programs competed in classic Larong Pinoy such as patintero, tumbang preso, kadang-kadang, and sack race, bringing nostalgic fun and excitement to the campus grounds. The games emphasized not just competition but teamwork, resilience, and camaraderie.
Mayor Lazatin lauded the initiative as more than just entertainment. “These games build character, sharpen the mind, and keep the body active—values that are as important as academic achievement,” he said. He also emphasized the importance of balancing education with physical and cultural activities.
The event also served as a bonding opportunity among students who are often preoccupied with academic responsibilities. Many participants expressed gratitude for the chance to relax, reconnect with peers, and relive the simplicity and joy of childhood games.
City officials present during the activity reiterated their support for youth-centered programs that blend tradition with wellness. The City Youth Development Office and City Sports Office shared plans to bring similar initiatives to other schools and barangays in the future.
Fiestang Kuliat’s Mamyalu Tamu 2025 continues to reflect the vibrant spirit of Angeles City by preserving Filipino traditions, building stronger communities, and nurturing well-rounded youth. Through events like Palaro ng Lahi, culture and character development remain alive in the heart of education.
