Angeles City — Staying true to his commitment to education, Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II presided over a recent Local School Board (LSB) meeting focused on enhancing the city’s learning systems and infrastructure. The session emphasized continued support for public schools through the strategic allocation of funds and improvement of educational services.
Held at the Angeles City Hall, the meeting was co-facilitated by Councilor Edu Pamintuan, Chairperson of the City Council’s Education Committee. Together, they led the discussion on key issues concerning the local education sector, with particular focus on the proposed Supplemental Budget No. 4 (SB4).
The board reviewed and approved SB4, which earmarks additional funding for various educational initiatives. These include the procurement of instructional materials, school repairs, support for teachers, and learning programs that aim to close learning gaps among students in public schools.
Mayor Lazatin reaffirmed the city’s strong stance on education being a top priority. “We are investing not just in facilities, but in the future of every Angeleño child,” Lazatin said during the meeting. He also thanked educators and school heads for their dedication, especially in post-pandemic recovery efforts.
Councilor Pamintuan echoed the Mayor’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of responsive budgeting in education. He said that SB4 reflects the city’s commitment to provide sufficient resources that empower both learners and teachers to thrive in a more inclusive and innovative learning environment.
Also present at the meeting were representatives from the Department of Education – Angeles City Division, school administrators, and other key stakeholders. Their collaborative effort in reviewing budget priorities and school needs underlines the city’s participatory and transparent approach to governance.
As Angeles City continues to lead for learning, the approval of SB4 marks another step forward in ensuring quality education for all. With sustained support and visionary leadership, the city remains on track toward a more educated and empowered future generation.
