Angeles City, Pampanga — Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for tourists visiting Angeles City, especially those exploring its world-renowned culinary offerings. This assurance was made during a courtesy visit by Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD) President and CEO Noel Manankil and his team.
During the meeting, LIPAD presented updates on Clark International Airport’s growth and future expansion plans. Mayor Jon took the opportunity to emphasize that tourist safety remains a top priority for the local government. The Angeles City Tourism Office, in partnership with law enforcement agencies and local stakeholders, continues to work on strengthening security across key visitor areas.
Mayor Jon highlighted efforts to promote Angeles City as a top culinary destination in the Philippines. Part of this involves developing a tourism branding strategy that showcases the city’s distinct Kapampangan heritage and gastronomic excellence. At the same time, the city has increased police visibility in areas frequented by tourists to enhance their overall sense of security.
LIPAD, operator of Clark International Airport, is actively engaging with local and international airline partners to broaden its flight network. The goal is to increase weekly air traffic, making Angeles City more accessible to a growing number of travelers. Express cargo services are also being explored, further reinforcing Clark’s role as a logistics and tourism hub in Central Luzon.
One key convenience soon available to passengers is the check-in facility at SM City Clark, which allows travelers to check in before arriving at the airport. This initiative not only streamlines the travel process but also encourages tourists to explore more of Angeles City before their flights. LIPAD is also working closely with local entrepreneurs to promote homegrown products and cultural experiences.
Further solidifying its reputation, Clark International Airport recently earned Level 1 accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI) for customer experience. This international recognition underscores the airport’s dedication to delivering quality service and enhancing the passenger journey.
With strong collaboration between the city government and airport authorities, Angeles City is positioning itself as a premier culinary and cultural destination. As infrastructure expands and tourism strategies evolve, Mayor Jon reassures the public that safety will remain at the heart of Angeles City’s journey toward global recognition.
