On June 4, 2025, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. awarded certificates of recognition to the Angeles City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and several of its personnel during a ceremony held at the Mayor’s Office. The recognition highlights the dedication and excellence of the city’s correctional officers and programs.
The Angeles City BJMP – Female Dormitory was recognized for its exemplary performance, earning second place as a unit in the 1st Quarter Gawad Penolohiya 2025. This prestigious award honors outstanding achievements in correctional management across the country.
Mayor Lazatin commended the entire team for their commitment to rehabilitation, discipline, and service within the jail system. He emphasized that their efforts not only uphold justice but also contribute to the humane treatment and transformation of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
Alongside the unit award, several individual BJMP members were also honored for excelling in their specific roles. Mayor Lazatin presented certificates of recognition to JO1 Melanie Gaboy (Best Records Officer Type B), Marvin Badongen (Best Investigator Officer), Ian Delos Reyes (Best Jail Nurse), and Zaldy Geronimo Jr. (Best Paralegal Officer).
Other notable awardees included Marissa Balanban as Best Livelihood Program Officer, Jayvee David Simbul as Best ALS Implementer, Roldan Memeg as Best Help Desk Officer, and Erickson Balao as Best Skills Enhancement Program Officer. Each was recognized for their dedication and impactful work within their respective assignments.
Mayor Lazatin praised the individual honorees for their significant contributions to the improvement of jail programs and services. He highlighted that such recognitions not only bring honor to the BJMP but also to the entire city of Angeles.
The Gawad Penolohiya, regarded as one of the highest forms of recognition in the correctional field, continues to inspire excellence and reform. Mayor Lazatin reaffirmed his administration’s full support for the BJMP’s mission and initiatives, recognizing their role in fostering a more just and rehabilitative system.
