Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II has proven once again that public service knows no breaks. Despite the suspension of classes and government work due to inclement weather, Mayor Lazatin continued leading city operations and delivering essential services to the people.
While most government offices were closed and schools on hold, Mayor Lazatin remained active in the field, checking on critical city services and ensuring that basic operations continued without disruption. From monitoring flood-prone areas to coordinating with emergency response teams, his hands-on leadership sent a clear message: the welfare of Angeleños comes first.
The mayor also led relief operations for affected residents, personally overseeing the distribution of aid and checking on evacuation centers. His presence provided assurance to those displaced or affected by the weather, reinforcing the city’s commitment to disaster preparedness and responsive governance.
Essential departments such as the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), City Health Office, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) continued working under the mayor’s directive. Lazatin ensured that critical services like medical assistance, rescue operations, and food distribution remained uninterrupted.
Mayor Lazatin stressed that public servants must be ready to act regardless of the weather or circumstance. “Our duty to serve does not stop just because classes and work are suspended. In fact, it is during these times that our people need us the most,” he stated.
Residents took to social media to express gratitude and admiration for the mayor’s dedication, many noting how his visibility during times of crisis has built trust and confidence in the local government. “We feel safe knowing our mayor is always working,” said one resident from Barangay Sto. Domingo.
With more unpredictable weather expected in the coming weeks, the city government is on high alert. Mayor Lazatin has instructed all departments to be ready for emergency deployments, ensuring that Angeles City continues to function efficiently no matter the conditions.
