ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. distributed height boards and weighing scales to barangay captains on May 27, 2025, at the Mayor’s Office, as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its nutrition programs.
The equipment will be used for Operation Timbang, a nationwide campaign that tracks the growth and nutritional status of children at the community level. By providing accurate measurement tools, the city aims to better identify and address cases of malnutrition among young Angeleños.
Joining Mayor Lazatin during the turnover was Angeles City Nutrition Officer Francis De Guzman, who emphasized the importance of reliable data in planning effective interventions. “With these tools, our barangay health workers can monitor children more efficiently and consistently,” De Guzman explained.
Mayor Lazatin stressed that investing in child nutrition is a priority of his administration. “Proper health monitoring starts at the barangay level. These tools are essential in ensuring that every child’s development is tracked and supported,” he said.
The distribution complements the city’s recent initiative of providing pusong mamon snacks to malnourished children. Lazatin personally led the handout of the nutritious snacks as part of efforts to combat undernutrition in vulnerable communities.
Barangay captains expressed their gratitude for the support, noting that the new tools would help enhance the accuracy of health records and allow them to better serve children and families within their jurisdictions.
This initiative is part of a broader health agenda in Angeles City, which includes preventive care, nutritional education, and consistent monitoring. The local government vows to continue equipping barangays with the resources they need to foster a healthier, stronger future generation.
