Angeles City, July 2, 2025 — Continuing his hands-on leadership style, Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II spent his second day in office meeting with community stakeholders to address pressing concerns in the areas of public safety, education, and the local economy. The series of dialogues reflect his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and direct community engagement.
Mayor Lazatin sat down with representatives from the Pampang Public Market Administration, the Angeles City Public School Teachers Association, and personnel from the City College of Angeles. These meetings were held to understand firsthand the challenges faced by the sectors that form the backbone of daily life in the city.
During his meeting with public market officials, the mayor emphasized the importance of consumer safety and vendor welfare. Issues such as sanitation, market order, and the safety of market-goers were among the top concerns raised. Lazatin promised to revisit policies and create mechanisms to improve public market conditions without compromising livelihood.
In his discussion with teachers, Lazatin acknowledged the crucial role of educators in shaping the city’s future. Representatives from the teachers’ association expressed their concerns regarding resource shortages, classroom conditions, and teachers’ welfare. The mayor assured them of his full support, emphasizing that education would be a key pillar of his administration.
At the City College of Angeles, Mayor Lazatin listened to updates and concerns about school infrastructure, student support services, and faculty development. He committed to exploring budget allocations and partnerships to enhance the quality of education provided by the city-run institution.
The mayor noted that these initial meetings are part of an ongoing effort to institutionalize regular dialogues with various sectors. “Governance should never be a one-way street,” Lazatin said. “We want to create a culture of listening, learning, and collaborative problem-solving.”
With this proactive start to his administration, Mayor Lazatin sets a tone of accessibility and accountability. His second day in office demonstrates not only his willingness to engage but also a readiness to take action based on the real needs of the people he serves.
