ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. personally led an on-site inspection of the ongoing construction of the new seven-storey Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) on May 21, 2025, reaffirming the city government’s commitment to expand healthcare access for Angeleños.
Joined by City Councilor JC Aguas, RLMMC Chief Dr. Froilan Canlas, ACDRRMO Head Rudy Simeon, General Services Officer Evangeline Malonzo, and Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council Head Ricky Saul, Mayor Lazatin checked the current progress of the construction and discussed timelines for completion.
According to Mayor Lazatin, Phase 2 of the construction project is currently underway. This phase focuses on the completion of the building’s 5th to 7th floors, which are vital to fully operationalizing the new hospital wing. Once completed, the annex will significantly improve the city hospital’s capacity to deliver quality health care.
The seven-storey facility will house a 120-bed capacity, which will greatly help in accommodating the growing number of patients seeking medical attention, especially during times of public health emergencies and disease outbreaks.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the expansion of RLMMC is part of a larger initiative to improve the city’s public health system. The additional floors will include patient wards, specialized care units, and critical hospital facilities, further equipping the hospital to provide comprehensive services.
The RLMMC development is a flagship health project of the Lazatin administration, aimed at modernizing hospital services and ensuring that no Angeleño is deprived of proper medical treatment due to overcrowding or lack of facilities.
Mayor Lazatin assured the public that the construction will remain in “full swing” and be completed as scheduled, reinforcing his administration’s ongoing mission to bring world-class medical care closer to the people of Angeles City.
