Angeles City — Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II inspired the latest batch of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) during a training session held earlier today, aimed at strengthening grassroots safety, disaster response, and peacekeeping efforts in the city’s communities.
In his speech, Mayor Lazatin underscored the essential role of BPAT volunteers as the first line of defense in maintaining local peace and order. “You are more than just patrols — you are protectors, responders, and models of civic duty,” the mayor told the attendees. “Your presence in our communities is vital in making Angeles City a safer and more united place to live.”
The training provided BPAT members with practical knowledge on basic law enforcement assistance, disaster preparedness, and emergency response. The program is part of the city’s broader mission to equip local volunteers with skills that complement the work of formal law enforcement.
Mayor Lazatin encouraged the BPATs to lead by example, foster unity, and cultivate a spirit of resilience among Angeleños. He emphasized that public safety does not rely solely on the police but also on engaged and proactive citizens.
Joining the mayor at the event was Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) Director, PCol Joselito Villarosa Jr., who praised the efforts of the volunteers. He highlighted how BPATs play a key role in supporting the police force by acting as the “eyes and ears” of the barangay, helping to maintain security and respond swiftly during emergencies.
PCol Villarosa added that strengthening the partnership between community volunteers and law enforcement enhances the city’s overall peacekeeping capabilities. He assured the volunteers of continued guidance and collaboration from ACPO.
Mayor Lazatin closed the program with a heartfelt reminder: “Let us continue to serve our communities with integrity, courage, and compassion. Together, we can build a city that is not only secure but also rooted in unity and shared responsibility.”
