Angeles City, July 4, 2025 — In a proactive move to address traffic concerns amid ongoing infrastructure development, Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II convened a meeting with Leadway Construction Company and the Angeles City Traffic Development Office (ACTDO) to discuss the Traffic Management Plan for the overpass construction along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Sto. Cristo.
The meeting was held to evaluate strategies that will ensure the smooth flow of traffic in one of the city’s busiest corridors. With construction activities already underway, the city government is seeking to implement measures that will minimize disruption for motorists, commuters, and pedestrians alike.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that while the overpass is a long-term solution to congestion, short-term traffic challenges must be addressed with urgency. “We must balance progress with public convenience. Infrastructure should not come at the cost of safety or productivity,” he said during the discussion.
Present at the meeting were Councilors Maricel Morales and Alex Indiongco, who both expressed full support for the traffic plan, stressing the need for coordination among all stakeholders. They also echoed concerns from their constituents regarding safety, access, and timely project completion.
Leadway Construction representatives presented the current project timeline and discussed the planned rerouting schemes, signage placements, and safety barriers. ACTDO, on the other hand, committed to deploying more personnel in the affected areas to assist in managing peak-hour congestion and ensuring pedestrian safety.
The mayor directed ACTDO to establish constant monitoring and to engage barangay officials and residents for feedback. He also called for a public information campaign to keep the public informed about alternate routes, traffic advisories, and construction updates.
This focused discussion reflects Mayor Lazatin’s leadership approach — responsive, consultative, and action-oriented. By addressing infrastructure and mobility hand-in-hand, the city administration is working to ensure that development happens without paralyzing daily life for Angeleños.
