Angeles City — In a decisive move to uphold safety and protect the integrity of the city’s entertainment industry, Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II met with bar and hotel owners operating along Fields Avenue and Korea Town, reiterating the city’s strict stance on illegal activities. The meeting underscored the city government’s campaign to maintain a clean, secure, and tourist-friendly environment.
Joined by Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) Director Joselito Villarosa Jr., ACTDO and Environmental Management Services (EMS) Head Francis Pangilinan, and City Tourist Auxiliary Head Andy Enriquez, Mayor Lazatin led discussions aimed at strengthening enforcement within the city’s nightlife zones. The main message was clear: “No Drugs, No Minors, No Illegal Activities.”
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that all entertainment and hospitality businesses must be aligned with these principles. He called on establishment owners to partner with local authorities in preventing activities that could damage the city’s reputation or endanger the safety of guests and residents. “We welcome business, but we must do it responsibly,” Lazatin said.
The mayor also made it clear that the city will not tolerate negligence. He urged business owners to implement internal policies that prevent underage entry, drug use, or any form of exploitation within their establishments. According to Lazatin, the city’s identity as a vibrant but law-abiding destination must be preserved.
In addition to law enforcement measures, Mayor Lazatin laid out his plans to improve the visual and structural appeal of the entertainment districts. These include better street lighting, regular cleanliness drives, and the installation of more security cameras to help ensure public safety, especially in high-traffic pedestrian areas.
He noted that these improvements are meant not just for tourists but also for the comfort and pride of Angeleños. “We want a city that locals and tourists alike can enjoy and feel safe in,” he stated. The vision is to elevate Fields Avenue into a more modern, orderly, and respectable destination.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding between the local government and entertainment industry leaders. Mayor Lazatin assured continued dialogue and support, provided that all stakeholders commit to maintaining safety, legality, and public decency in their operations.
