In a vibrant celebration of inclusivity and community care, residents of Barangay San Nicolas in Angeles City were treated to a day of pampering and wellness through the event “Mislag ing Leguan Angeleño,” one of the highlights of Fiestang Kuliat 2025.
Solo parents, persons with disabilities (PWDs), women, and senior citizens enjoyed free grooming and self-care services including haircuts, hair coloring, massages, and manicure/pedicure treatments. The joyful and heartwarming activity brought smiles to beneficiaries who rarely have access to such services.
The event was organized by the One United LGBTQ of Angeles City Association Inc. in collaboration with the Angeles City Tourism Office and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Angeles, and was strongly supported by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II. Their joint efforts showcased how beauty, care, and community empowerment can go hand-in-hand.
Mayor Lazatin praised the organizers and volunteers, noting that programs like this reflect the city’s continuing commitment to supporting marginalized groups and fostering inclusive community development. “True beauty is when we uplift one another—this event is a reflection of that spirit,” he said.
Members of the LGBTQ+ community offered their skills as hairstylists, massage therapists, and beauty specialists during the event, emphasizing how inclusivity and volunteerism can make a real impact in grassroots communities.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the services, with many saying that beyond the physical care, the event also gave them a sense of belonging and recognition. Some called it the “highlight of their year,” having felt genuinely cared for and pampered.
As part of the broader celebration of Fiestang Kuliat, “Mislag ing Leguan Angeleño” exemplifies the festive spirit rooted in compassion and solidarity. The Angeles City Government plans to continue supporting inclusive events that not only celebrate local culture, but also nurture the well-being of every sector of society.
