ANGELES CITY — The newly-elected officers of the Angeles City Solo Parents Federation officially took their oath of office before Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II in a ceremony held at the City Hall, signaling the start of a renewed commitment to serve and uplift solo parents across the city.
Mayor Lazatin personally administered the oath, expressing his full support for the federation’s mission to promote the welfare and rights of solo parents. He emphasized the city government’s continuing dedication to inclusive governance, particularly through support services tailored to vulnerable sectors.
The new officers are expected to work closely with the local government in implementing programs that address the unique challenges faced by solo parents, including access to livelihood opportunities, childcare assistance, and mental health support.
One key component of their advocacy is the strengthened Barangay Solo Parents Desk, which serves as a direct support channel in every barangay. This grassroots mechanism ensures that solo parents receive timely assistance and are linked to available government programs.
Mayor Lazatin noted that Angeles City is among the few LGUs actively institutionalizing solo parent support at the barangay level, in line with national policies and the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act. He commended the officers for stepping up to lead and encouraged them to be voices of compassion and action within their communities.
The oathtaking ceremony also served as a platform for the officers to present their initial plans and activities for their term, including educational seminars, livelihood workshops, and coordination with various city departments for program rollouts.
With their new leadership in place, the Angeles City Solo Parents Federation is poised to further its mission of advocacy, empowerment, and inclusive service—working hand in hand with the city government to improve the lives of solo parents and their children.
