ANGELES CITY — The Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, has officially started the repainting of the Pulung Maragul Bridge located along the Pandan-Magalang Road. The project is being carried out by the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) and began this October as part of the city’s ongoing infrastructure maintenance and beautification efforts.
The bridge, which serves as a key route for daily commuters, public transport, and cargo vehicles, is being given a fresh coat of paint to enhance both its aesthetic appeal and structural preservation. The maintenance activity is aimed at extending the lifespan of the bridge while ensuring safety for motorists and pedestrians.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that infrastructure upkeep is just as important as new construction projects. “Our commitment is not only to build, but also to maintain and protect the city’s existing public structures. The Pulung Maragul Bridge repainting is one of many steps in that direction,” he said.
According to the City Engineer’s Office, the repainting process includes surface preparation, rust removal, and application of weather-resistant industrial paint. These measures are expected to improve the bridge’s durability, especially with the wear and tear caused by changing weather conditions and heavy traffic flow.
The project is also in line with the city’s urban enhancement initiative, which seeks to revitalize public spaces and infrastructure for better functionality and visual harmony. Clean, well-maintained structures contribute to a more organized and livable urban environment, the CEO noted.
Traffic management measures have been put in place to minimize inconvenience to the public. Partial road closures and alternate routes have been coordinated with the Angeles City Traffic Development Office (ACTDO) to ensure the continuous flow of vehicles during the maintenance period.
The Angeles City Government continues to prioritize both development and upkeep of public infrastructure. Projects like the repainting of the Pulung Maragul Bridge reflect the administration’s holistic approach to urban planning — blending functionality, safety, and visual improvement for the benefit of all Angeleños.
