As part of the vibrant celebration of Fiestang Kuliat 2025, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, hosted a special heritage tour for students from City College of Angeles, Jocson College, and Systems Plus College Foundation. The event, organized by the City Tourism Office, aimed to showcase the city’s colorful history and rich cultural legacy.
The students embarked on a guided tour around Angeles City’s heritage district, exploring some of its most iconic landmarks. The itinerary included the historic Old Pamintuan Mansion, the City Library, Museo Ning Angeles, and the century-old Santo Rosario Church, also known as Pisamban Maragul. These sites provided students with a deeper appreciation of the city’s evolution through the years.
At each stop, local guides shared stories about the city’s past—from its colonial roots and struggles during the revolution, to its rise as a center of culture and identity in Central Luzon. The immersive experience allowed students to reflect on the city’s historical milestones and the people who shaped them.
One of the highlights of the tour was the hands-on cultural activity held at the Culinarium of Museo Ning Angeles. Here, students learned how to make the traditional delicacy putong babi, a savory rice cake topped with pork—a culinary gem of Kapampangan heritage.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of cultural awareness among the youth. “By reconnecting with our roots, we empower the next generation to preserve our heritage and promote local pride,” he said, reiterating the city’s commitment to cultural education and preservation.
The City Tourism Office plans to conduct more heritage tours for schools and organizations as part of its ongoing initiative to make local history more accessible and engaging, especially for the youth. These tours aim not only to educate but also to inspire pride in being part of the rich cultural fabric of Angeles City.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the eye-opening experience, saying it deepened their understanding of their hometown. With Fiestang Kuliat as the backdrop, the tour served as a powerful reminder of the beauty and resilience of Angeles City’s heritage.
