Angeles City — The Technical Working Group for Relocation and Resettlement recently met with Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II to provide a detailed update on the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Extension project. The group includes representatives from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), National Housing Authority (NHA), and the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
During the briefing, the group outlined the current status of the NSCR Extension project, highlighting key milestones and upcoming construction phases. They emphasized the importance of minimizing disruptions to affected communities while ensuring timely progress on this vital infrastructure development.
In addition to the railway project update, the group presented an overview of the Livelihood Restoration and Improvement Program. This initiative aims to support residents displaced or affected by the project by providing opportunities to regain economic stability and improve their quality of life.
The Community-Based Initiative Approach was also discussed, which focuses on empowering local communities through participatory planning and tailored programs that address specific needs. This approach ensures that relocation and resettlement efforts are more inclusive and sustainable.
Mayor Lazatin expressed appreciation for the comprehensive update and reaffirmed the city’s commitment to working closely with national agencies to safeguard the welfare of affected residents.
